Carbide Hob Cutter

  • Solid Carbide Hobs
The carbide hob is particularly suited to large series production. It can only used economically on the latest generation of modern hobbing machines.
  • Short production times through high cutting speeds
  • High quality surface finish
  • suitable for dry machining
  • Very good service life through use of appropriate hard-materiel coatings
  • Better profile form achieved through the use of a high number of gashes
  • Good chip distribution reduces strain on the cutting edges
  • Reduction of set-up time through extendible of shaft or tandem hobs
  • Closer manufacturing tolerances achieved by applying more precise grinding than according to DIN standard
Depending on the application LUREN recommends the best suited type of carbide, hard-material coating and production technology

Shaving Cutter

This kind of tools are usually employed for finishing of helical or spur gears before heat treated. Luren experience in producing shaving cutters has enabled them to optimize the efficiency and quality of these tools through accurate design and proper choice of the material used for the manufacturing.

In the first place the cutters undergo a careful heat treatment and them other subsidiary treatments follow to obtain a final product, which fully complies with specifications for cutting and tool life, The most advanced machining and testing processes ensure that the tools are manufactures within very narrow tolerance limits.

Shaper Cutter

  • Shaper cutters are produced, depending on the intended use, in the module range from 0.3 mm up to 14 mm as
  • Shaper cutters, disc type according to DIN 1825
  • Shaper cutters, boss type according to DIN 1826 and
  • Shaper cutters, shank type according to DIN 1828.
The quality grades of shaper cutters are AA, A or B according to DIN 1828.

Shaper cutters can be manufactured for straight and helical involute gears with the basic profile I, II, III of IV according to DIN 3972, Semi-topping profile, root radius, top relief and protuberance are possible modifications, which may also be combined.
The shaper cutters can be used for involute splines according to DIN 5480 and DIN 5482, shaper cutters for chain sprockets according to DIN 8197 as well as specific profiles for serrations, pin gears, toothed belt wheels and ratchets.
Shaper cutters can be made of powder-metallurgical steels (PM) and super high speed steels (HSS) and can be provided with cemented carbide coating on special request.
In addition to the types listed in the tables we supply all realizable profiles and dimensions in accordance with the particular operating conditions.

Rack Rolling

  • RACK SHAPED CUTTER
Due to rather low manufacturing costs. these tools are generally employed for producing invoiute tooting prototype gears with side clearances .The cutters are usually made from high – grade HSS steel and employed in MAAG . SUNDERLAND , EXCELLO and GLEASON tooting machines. The precision it ensures very high quality tooting which often do not require any subsequent shaving process. Our company supplies rack shaped cutters according to customers specifications with all necessary modifications for machining special involute profiles.
High quality steel grade with accurate heat treatment together ensure high efficiency both with regard to quality and quantity.
  • COLD FORMING RACK
Cold forming racks are usually employed for manufacturing involute tooting for spline shafts. Manufacturing takes place by means of compression and subsequent plastic deformation. The shaft to be cold formed is rolled between two racks, which moves relatively in opposite directions. Due to the very high pressure involved, such a process is used only for the manufacturing of gears with small modules.
Already at the design stage. our long experience enables us to obtain the best possible results. To supply forming racks, we use the best steel currently available on the market, and it is property treated to ensure optimum wear ability.
  • PRECISION RACKS
Normally these racks are manufactured on specific request from the customer. Their application range varies from checking instruments to special machine tools. Steel used to manufacture them is very high quality and undergoes several stabilization cycles as to ensure optimum non-deform ability.
These racks are usually manufactured according to the following tolerances:
    Signal pitch error 0001 mm
    Effective error on a 600mm length +0.01mm
At present, with the introduction of new electronic technologies, their application range has been extended checking and measuring machines.
  • TUBBING BLADES
Stubbing blades are normally used for stubbing a gear on the tooth side of external involute tooting. After aligned fitting and locking in a specific holder the blades are now integral with a rack, which moves forward to actuate rotation of a gear firmly connected to the tooting to be stubbed.
At each movement, the blade carrier moves so as to enable the blades to cut into the tooth sides of the tooting. This means that such tools require very accurate manufacturing as the final output, depends on the optimum performance of very single blade and subsidiary equipment.

Broach Cutter

Broaching is a manufacturing process used to create holes , slots , cut out and other complex internal surface features. Broaching may also used to create external features. Internal broaching is employed to manufacture symmetrical features , such as holes and slots in parts where due to the size , shape and length of the feature traditional machining is not possible or practical. Broaching is classically used to cut key-ways square or rectangular feature of sizes, hexagonal , and creating internal splined features. Broaching manufacturing utilizes a ribbed or fluted tool of some length.
The tool in installed into a broaching machine which provides for a reciprocating motion. The broaching tool is positioned as required on the work piece and the tool is extended and retracted in a reciprocating motion with the flutes coming in contact with a surface region to be cut on the work-piece.
